DEMING – In April of 2015, Southwest Pediatrics and Family Care opened doors at 1200 S. Eighth Street. The health and well-being clinic added a new health care provider to the staff at 1200 S. Eighth Street in Deming, NM.
Proprietors Dr. Florence C. and Joel Roque continue to provide new and improved services to the community and neighboring towns by handpicking the best in health care for patients and their families.
“Our staff includes skilled and knowledgeable providers and clinical staff whose aim is to provide your child individualized and efficient care,” Dr. Roque said. “Our mission statement is to provide wholistic care to families with a focus on disease prevention, growth and development, and health promotion.”
Carlos Vazquez, FNP
Carlos Vazquez is the newest member of the SWPFC staff. He was born and raised in Albuquerque in a close-knit, bilingual, Hispanic family who understands the importance of family, culture, and traditions.
He passed on the importance of these values to his three children who have always been his motivation to achieve his goals.
Vazquez began his career in the medical field over eight years ago as a licensed practical nurse, which sparked his passion for healthcare. Since then, he has worked through the various steps in nursing to include certified a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, and now a nurse practitioner.
His nursing experience has provided him with extensive knowledge in pediatrics, cardiology, and critical care.
Vazquez obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing at New Mexico State University and has since completed his Master’s degree in nursing with a focus in family medicine at Grand Canyon University.
Dr. Florence C. Roque
Dr. Roque was raised in a metropolitan city of the Philippine islands. Living and practicing in Deming reminds her of similar simple rural living, while appreciating the modern conveniences of surrounding cities,
Dr. Roque and her husband Joel are actively involved locally through the activities of their church, and internationally through their charity arm, JoFlo Outreach International (JOI) Foundation.
Dr. Roque came to the U.S. for college. She eventually graduated with clinical honors at Rush University, Chicago, with a Master’s in Maternal Child and a Doctorate’s in Primary Care Pediatrics with a subspecialty in Genetics.
Since childhood, Dr. Roque has been involved in community and faith-based settings where she met her husband. She has over 20 years of experience in pediatric primary care, asthma, allergy, and congenital disorders. Dr. Roque strives to provide a holistic approach to healthcare to her patients in all walks of life.
“When you meet Carlos, you will quickly learn that he is a compassionate, empathic provider with a no-nonsense approach and an amazing listening ear. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Carlos strives to provide quality, holistic health care while focusing on patients’ individual needs,” Dr. Roque said.
